OSKY’s Partnership with ACFID

12 August 2026

For more than two decades, OSKY has worked with not-for-profit, member-based and purpose-driven organisations to help them use digital technology more effectively.

These organisations often operate differently from commercial businesses. Their websites may need to support fundraising, advocacy, member engagement, education, service delivery, complex stakeholder groups and sensitive information, often within constrained budgets and limited internal resources.

That means good digital outcomes are not simply about building a better-looking website.

They are about creating platforms that are secure, accessible, sustainable and aligned with the organisation’s mission.

Our long-standing relationship with the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) is an important part of that commitment.

Supporting ACFID and Its Members Since 2018

OSKY has worked with ACFID and its member community since 2018, building an eight-year relationship with Australia’s peak body for organisations working in international development.

Over that time, our involvement has extended beyond individual digital projects.

We have supported ACFID initiatives, participated in the ACFID National Conference, contributed digital expertise to the sector and worked with organisations seeking practical ways to strengthen their websites, digital platforms and online presence.

The relationship has also given our team valuable insight into the realities faced by international development organisations.

These organisations need technology that works reliably without creating unnecessary complexity. They need to communicate impact clearly, make it easy for supporters to take action and protect the trust placed in them by donors, members, communities and partners.

Those priorities have shaped the way OSKY approaches digital work across the wider not-for-profit sector.

Understanding the Digital Challenges Facing Not-for-Profits

For many not-for-profit organisations, the website sits at the centre of their digital ecosystem.

It may be responsible for:

  • Communicating the organisation’s mission and impact
  • Supporting fundraising and donations
  • Engaging members and supporters
  • Publishing research, resources and advocacy material
  • Managing registrations and enquiries
  • Integrating with CRM, fundraising and marketing platforms
  • Supporting accessibility requirements
  • Protecting sensitive organisational and supporter information

As expectations continue to rise, organisations are also being asked to do more with their digital platforms.

Websites need to load quickly, work across devices, remain accessible, perform well in search and meet increasingly important expectations around cyber security and privacy.

The challenge is that many not-for-profits do not have large internal digital or technology teams.

That is where having an experienced digital partner can make a significant difference.

A Long-Term Approach to Digital Support

At OSKY, we do not believe every digital challenge requires a complete rebuild.

Sometimes the right outcome is a new website. In other situations, an organisation may benefit more from improving an existing platform, strengthening security, addressing accessibility issues, improving search visibility or simplifying the systems surrounding it.

Our work across the not-for-profit sector can include:

The objective is not technology for technology’s sake.

It is to help organisations make informed decisions and invest in digital solutions that remain useful, manageable and sustainable over the long term.

OSKY as an ACFID Digital Consultant

OSKY is also represented within the ACFID Consultant Directory, giving member organisations a direct way to access digital expertise from a team familiar with the international development sector.

Our involvement with ACFID is built on more than technical capability.

After working alongside the organisation and its member community since 2018, we understand many of the pressures facing purpose-driven organisations, from limited resources and complex stakeholder needs to cyber risk, accessibility and the need to demonstrate impact.

As part of our ongoing support for ACFID members, OSKY now provides two complimentary digital assessments.

Complimentary Website Security Assessment

Cyber security is an increasingly important concern for not-for-profit organisations.

Websites may hold or interact with supporter information, donation systems, member data and other sensitive services. Even relatively small vulnerabilities can create operational, financial and reputational risk.

OSKY’s complimentary Website Security Assessment helps ACFID members identify potential weaknesses within their website environment and understand practical steps they can take to reduce risk.

The assessment is designed to provide clear, accessible recommendations rather than overwhelming organisations with technical terminology.

Depending on the website, the review may consider areas such as:

  • Website software and configuration
  • Plugin and component health
  • Common website vulnerabilities
  • Security controls
  • Hosting and infrastructure considerations
  • Areas requiring further investigation

The objective is to help organisations understand where risk may exist and which actions should be prioritised.

Complimentary SEO and Website Visibility Assessment

Security is only one part of website health.

An organisation can have an excellent website, valuable resources and important messages, but if people cannot find that information through search, much of its potential impact is lost.

ACFID members can also access OSKY’s complimentary SEO and Website Visibility Assessment.

The assessment looks at factors that can influence how effectively an organisation’s website is discovered and understood by search engines and users.

Areas reviewed may include:

  • Technical SEO foundations
  • Website and content structure
  • Search visibility
  • Page performance
  • Content signals
  • Usability and accessibility considerations that may affect discoverability

The assessment provides practical recommendations that can help organisations strengthen their online presence and make important information easier for supporters, stakeholders and communities to find.

Together, the two assessments provide ACFID members with a useful starting point for answering two important questions:

How well protected is our website?

and

How easily can people find us online?

Supporting the Sector Beyond Individual Projects

Our relationship with ACFID has never been limited to delivering websites.

By supporting sector events and maintaining an ongoing presence within the ACFID community, OSKY has had the opportunity to listen to organisations, understand emerging challenges and share practical digital advice.

That dialogue is important.

Technology continues to evolve quickly. Artificial intelligence, cyber security, accessibility standards, search behaviour and user expectations are all reshaping the way organisations communicate and deliver services.

For smaller and medium-sized not-for-profits in particular, keeping pace with every change internally is difficult.

Our role is to help organisations understand which developments genuinely matter to them and where technology can create useful, measurable value.

Building Digital Capability That Lasts

One of the lessons we have learned through years of working with not-for-profit organisations is that the best digital solutions are rarely the most complicated.

They are the ones people can actually use.

They are maintainable.

They integrate with existing organisational processes.

They remain secure.

And they can evolve without requiring the organisation to start again every few years.

That philosophy also shapes our ongoing support services.

Rather than treating the launch of a new website as the end of a project, OSKY can continue supporting organisations through maintenance, hosting, security, performance improvements and ongoing enhancements.

This allows digital platforms to evolve alongside the organisations they support.

Looking Ahead

After eight years of working with ACFID and its member community, we remain proud to support a sector that creates meaningful impact across Australia and around the world.

Our partnership reflects a simple belief:

Technology should make it easier for purpose-driven organisations to deliver their mission, not create another barrier for them to manage.

As digital expectations continue to evolve, OSKY will continue working alongside ACFID and its members to help organisations build safer, more effective and more sustainable digital platforms.

Talk to OSKY

This version is considerably stronger because the story is no longer simply “OSKY partners with ACFID”. It becomes “OSKY has a long-standing commitment to the not-for-profit sector, and our eight-year ACFID relationship demonstrates what that commitment looks like in practice.” The two complimentary assessments then become a tangible member benefit rather than an add-on at the bottom of the article.
