Rise Literacy EHub

Rise Literacy is an organisation run by James Lyra, a registered early childhood teacher and paediatric occupational therapist with over 17 years of experience. James has held roles as a classroom teacher, occupational therapist, and literacy specialist at a large secondary school. He has also led the establishment of two early learning centres.

Due to high demand for his services in schools, private tutoring, and teacher training, James needed to automate literacy services to better meet this demand.

Subscription-Based Application

We developed a unique subscription-based application that includes:

• Lesson Planning: Allows teachers to create lesson plans tailored to specific students.
• Personalised Codexes: Enables the creation of personalised word codexes for each student.
• Interactive Activities: Facilitates the selection of words for games and activities, which can form part of lesson plans and courses.

Administration Interface

• An interface for James to manage subscriptions and oversee the application’s functionality.
• A Word and Sound Codex that James can continually update and upload to a database.
• Capability to add student accounts for both teachers and students.

Guardian Participation

• A system for students’ guardians to log in and participate in activities and games with their children.

Membership and Payments

• Different levels of membership that can be upgraded online with payments processed through an e-commerce system.

Engagement and Approach

OSKY was engaged to design and build an application to automate these literacy lessons. Our approach involved:

• Collaborating with James to gather detailed requirements, create wireframes, and design the application.
• Developing a comprehensive codex of sounds, syllables, and words.
• Documenting rules associated with lessons, games, and activities featuring words that children were struggling with.
