Australian Research Council

The Australian Research Council (ARC) is a Commonwealth entity within the Australian Government. The ARC advises the Government on research matters and administers the National Competitive Grants Programme, a significant component of Australia’s investment in research and development.

Through Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) the ARC is also tasked with identifying excellence in research, by comparing Australia’s university research effort against international benchmarks, creating incentives to improve the quality of research and identifying emerging research areas and opportunities for further development.

The ARC’s mission is to deliver policy and programmes that advance Australian research and innovation globally and benefit the community.

The brief

To create a new, modern website with the focus on generating interest and engaging users through accessible, informative and dynamic digital content.

To construct the system on a custom Drupal environment: MSSQL / IIS / Windows Server due to the Department’s constraints.

The outcome

Osky provided Australian Research Council with customised solutions to fully meet their needs of building a website and operations management. WordPress is a website building platform developed using the PHP language. Users can set up their own websites on servers that support PHP and MySQL databases.

In partnership with the Australian Research Council, Osky Interactive delivered a website that is built to a high level of Web Accessibility Compliance, with features that make this site functional for all audiences.

Using our internal programming and database specialists we have been able to make a standard Distribution of Drupal to work completely and properly with MSSQL instead of MySQL.

The website has been successfully reviewed by Vision Australia to comply with WCAG 2.0 AA Standards.
